Research on Molecular Biology of Tea Plant

    The research on molecular markers and functional genome of tea plant were initiated in the TRI. RAPD, ISSR markers were employed to discriminate germplasm, to analyze genetic diversity and stability, and to establish molecular systematics of tea germplasm. The gene expression profile of young shoots was largely elucidated and a gene microarray of tea plant was developed for the first time in the world. A number of research findings were patented.
